@ScottieGAcoustic Wow Scottie, you sure are taking this personally-pleading for others to share your views, cussing....I never called Phish not talented. They definitely have chops as rock and jazz musicians. Bluegrass, I don't think so. That's why they brought in some real deal help--Rickie, robbie, Ronnie and the boys. You don't have to cry Scottie, no one is going to take away your phish from you.

@pipdog1967 You're just ignorant if you don't see "high calibre" talent in Phish the band and the music that they produce. All four are individually in the Top Teir at what they do as musicians. Then they can Improvise and recreate each song they play, being fresh and new every single show. Not always tight as can be, but pretty dam close. For not having any "Traditional Bluegrass" instruments, they sure the fuck can play "Uncle Penn" Ginseng Sullivan" or any other bluegrass tune TOP NOTCH

@ScottieGAcoustic Having played Uncle Pen for 35 years and knowing Jason of the DMB, I would rate this as a marginally passable version of the old standard. I don't debate they are having fun--its just not a performance that any musicians of their calibre would want to recall, much less to have broadcasted. @pipdog1967 You have to understand that Phish probably contacted these guys only a couple days before they arrived in Nashville. No rehersal whatsoever. Listening to the CD the overall quality of the jam is pretty dam good. To say they're embarrased by playing this song is just plain stupid. I'm a musician and for all these guys to jam together is DEFINATLY fun for them. Although not perfect by any means...it's far from a "trainwreck" and I understand trainwreck bro. I'm pretty sure you don't.

What part of trainwreck do you not understand ScottieG? I've seen DMB and Ricky hundreds of times and I assure you they are embarrased about the lack of arrangement and organization in this Phish sit-in compared to how they usually perform with their own respective groups.  Good for Phish though for trying. Many hippies make the conversion...

It's nice to hear them play all the fiddle tunes mentioned in Monroe tune... isn't it. Boston Boy, Soldier's Joy, Jenny Lynn. I was there that night and really enjoyed Wynonna's Free Bird. Fun times and amazing music!

what a trainwreck. The only real meshing was the Jenny Lynn outro, and by then it was too late. I've never seen Del downright confused on a stage before. I hope he wasn't too embarassed. For great neo-traditional bluegrass, check out the Del McCoury Band.

I've been to 66 phish shows over 16 years.....this is in the top 5 performances honestly
