Illegal Immigration can be either a civil or criminal offense depending on the record of the subject apprehended. A country is defined by it's borders, language and culture. Today, there IS illegal immigration. It's the law and it needs to be enforced.

Smacking around a wife was legal back then too, but it isn't today. And because there is law against such a thing, the law is protected by the police and/or citizens.

No you need to learn the history of the USA.

Illegal Immigrant is a fairly new term used in the past to demonize and humiliate persons.

George Washington was talking about EVERYONE. During his time there was no term "Illegal Immigrant" nor were there any so called "Illegal Immigrants" until far after his death.

Washington would probably have disliked the ideas of Immigration today as he himself would be considered an Illegal Immigrant.
