Alex and Fletcher's burgeoning love affair is thwarted by Adam who continues to hold Alex hostage on the island and by Maureen who still harbors romantic feelings for Fletcher.
@CarlD2 Vaughn is the operative who trained Roger. He shows up on the yacht with Alex when Roger helicopters in and he is the sounding board for Roger, especially during the towers debacle. I agree about these scenes though. Fletcher especially comes off pretty flighty. Prior to the island, he was definitely sending signals to Maureen. You really do feel Maureen's pain though at how Fletcher is totally consumed with finding Alex to the point he pretty much ignores Mo spilling her guts.
I like seeing Maureen in another role too. I thought she deserved better than Ed. I just wish these scenes were a little better written and put together.
@CarlD2 I think the intention was to do more with McGregor and Vaughn but I'm not sure what happened with that. And I agree about the lack of romantic chemistry between Maureen and Fletcher but I liked seeing Maureen break out of the wife role. I never actually loved her with Ed.
Fletcher and Maureen don't seem to have a lot of chemistry, although that might be the writing. It's nice to get to see Maureen in a role other than the baby-obsessed long-suffering wife.
Alex and McGregor (is that Tony Todd?) have a good connection. I wish the show had done more w/them.
