Jean Kilbourne's pioneering work helped develop and popularize the study of gender representation in advertising. Her award-winning Killing us Softly films have influenced millions of college and high school students across two generations and on an international scale. In this important new film, Kilbourne reviews if and how the image of women in advertising has changed over the last 20 years.

With wit and warmth, Kilbourne uses over 160 ads and TV commercials to critique advertising's image of women. By fostering creative and productive dialogue, she invites viewers to look at familiar images in a new way, that moves and empowers them to take action.

  • @AssholeBlogger I rather see commercials go ;)

  • @PutaDeMigracionVAWA I only care about the marketing message in it, im not a feminst. Im just a man uploading videos about the system and how this works.

  • @mindinflow Men can be affected too, if they start expecting women to actually be like what they see in magazines and stuff. Fantasy will clash with reality.

  • @Nancy21Rappaccini yes your right ;)

  • @bongulated808 If you're a master in psychology you must have studied self-esteem and conformity. Many women struggle with eating disorders (studied in psychology) to conform to an extreme image of modeling. Adversiting is photoshopped more then half the time. These women are also great looking already. Its sad that you are hating on an individual like Jean Kilbourne who is trying to support women who are struggling with their self appearance.. Smh@U

  • @englandcolors Actually, I know there's lots of men today who have low self esteem because they aren't considered "manly." Men have to be tall, rich, fit, etc. They're expected to play a sport and never show their sensitive side. But arguing about "who has it worse" is kind of trivial, isn't it?

  • Nobody wants to see ugly fat nasty women on tv but who said we have to ??? The public have been condtioned to think that these fake women with all the make up n everything they wear is what they have to aspire to when in reality men love normal looking women. The ones at home. Adele won 6 Awards at the Brits and she looks better than Kate Moss, she looks more beautiful and has a better figure than Coke head Kate Moss. But you'll always find some Jerk who wants to keep the status quo going.

  • @MrSecretsquirrelgirl I did. There is also a lot of stuff about the moon landing hoax. And alien abductions.

Those things have about as much evidence for them as rape culture.

  • @TheFenceandtheJug have a look, i am sure you will find a lot easily, google it.

  • @AssholeBlogger excuse me, unless you believe that any real woman in the world is ugly, nasty looking and 'fat' you have the wrong idea.

  • @oldpainshow Agreed, both sexes are equally oppressed.

  • @punchjudy touche you have a point. i guess i am a bit biased but still think that society expects more out of women, but men are pressured too

  • @englandcolors If you think this is true, try to get a job (as a man) without shaving your face. Physical appearance is just as important for men in society, the rules are just different.
