Been awhile since I've actually posted any videos, so I decided to put one up. I've been working on this game for about half a year, and this is pretty much what I've got done so far (not much, sadly).

This video is pretty outdated since it was the last version on XNA before porting it over to C++. The mini-boss presented here has been changed in the playable preview.

  • How did you make those graphics? Did you sketch, then draw the outline and color, etc, or did you just do it pixel by pixel?

  • Pretty much did everything pixel by pixel.

  • What kind of level of programming experience/knowledge would you have to be at to make stuff like this? I'd love to make games eventually but right now learning C++ isn't panning out too well. =s

  • Depends on how complex you want your game to be. For the most part, you'd only need to know the fundamentals of programming.

  • Are you still working on this? The last blog entry was several months ago. This looks really interesting and I'd hate to hear that work on it has been discontinued.

  • I'm still working on it, I've just been lazy with the blog since I haven't made much progress in terms of in-game content.

    For example, for the last month or so I've been implementing netplay just for the hell of it (which kind of works).

    I should update that blog though... Meh, I'll probably do it once I finish drawing some backgrounds and a tileset for Area 3.

  • do you use scripts for boss actions? I find programming bosses a pain in the ass, with script would made life easier, but I have no xperience with scripts yet.
