  • Rick was a great guy. I met him in Akron at Larry Barnholths gym. He was a real hero for us all. So sad to hear of his passing.

  • hi shawn this is your cousin chris. i'm sorry to hear about your dad. from time to time i search the internet to look for stuff like this. amazing strength your dad and my dad had. I hope you and your sisters are doing well. i never really got over my own father's passing.

  • This is Shawn, Rick's only son. It's great to be able to see a tribute like this about my father. Those who knew Rick as an unbelievable lifter, if you can imagine - he was an even better father. My family's world will never be the same without him. Thanks Les! R.I.P. Daddy-O

  • Thank you for the fantastic slideshow / tribute. My Father was a great man, we miss him terribly. It's nice to know that he was admired by many. He fought a long hard, battle with heart disease, and lost before he could get a transplant. His legacy lives on in our hearts. Thanks again.

  • Rick lost his battle with congestive heart failure in Dec. of 07 and his brother Tom passed of a heart attack in dec 99. The tribute to Rick was very nice. I'm his son in law and was watching it with his daughter Kari, thank you for putting that together. He is truly missed and spoke highly of his old weightlifting buddies.

  • didn't know that Rick passed away. What a shame, I met rick when he came to the acmwl in Akron when I was lifting there. He came over with phil grippaldi.

  • Thank you for your tribute to Rick Holbrook. I was sadden to read of his passing in December. Do you know what he died of? The obit also mentioned his late brother Tom. Do you know when his brother died?

    Jim
