Brand New Page (Dr. Horrible Parody)

A song about starting to write, based on a song about killing a superhero. Pretty much the same, wouldn't you say?

The video is crap, but just ignore that... I'd tell you to watch it in High Quality, but it wouldn't make it any less crap.

Obviously, I give all credit for the actual song Brand New Day to Joss Whedon who made it and all the people who performed it originally, including Neil Patrick Harris. Brand New Day is one of my absolute favourites from Dr Horrible, along with Slipping (I was going to make the parody of Slipping at first, calling it Blinking, but realised Brand New Page was much more effective as a spoof name.) and On The Rise. Everything You Ever is fantastic as well. I have another sort-of fan video in mind, which would be a villain's video, but we'll see.

@Mylifetogive Yeah, it could have been, especially if there had been more people involved in the production than just myself (I did all the music and all the filming as well as being in it) but I'm not sure it would ever have actually been made if I had waited until I could get someone to join me.

@ocdturtle I would say that it's a mistake to call Dr. Horrible a parody just because it's a comedy. It's a comedy super hero/ villain flick, not necessarily a parody. Yes, it might still be silly to make a parody of a comedy, but arguably, this song is not about the humour but about anger and hate.

Hahahaha, this is pretty well done. Interesting lyrics, they actually fit the song's tone really well. At first I didn't know if I wanted to listen to a parody of one of my favorite songs of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, but I'm glad I did. After all they say the best form of flattery is imatation (spelled right?). 5/5 from me.

@Magnulus i just meant that i consider it sort of a parody of the traditional superhero story, not that it was a parody strictly because it was a comedy, but because of some of the cynical lines throughout the story that poked fun at traditional views and stories. the song "so they say" is sort of an example of this, and the unexpected and unusual ending supported it as well. i didn't say it was silly to make a parody of a comedy. in fact, i said it's awesome, even if the idea is a bit odd
