Personally, I find the best fix for these to be even simpler...
(1) Lay the iPod on a hard, flat surface.
(2) Apply a 4lb sledgehammer with significant force.
(3) Find a product that works just as well (if not better) for significantly less money.
(3) is the easiest step of them all. Sorry, Apple, but I can get something at least as good for a lot less. Current player? Sylvania belt-clip thingy, no idea what model. 1gb of storage is more than I need, and it only cost $17 @ Kroger.

Hi. I have a serious problem.I have an ipod nano 5th generation. The other day i dropped my ipod and when i picked it up the screen was completely white. So i reset it and the screen went completely black. And now it wont turn on, or reset. Whenever i plug it into the computer or my ihome nothing happens. The computer doesnt read it and the ihome doesnt either. I dont know what to do. At first i thought it might need a lcd screen replacement but when it didnt get reconized i was confused. Help?

IF YOU'RE GETTING THE WHITE SCREEN:
Resetting (hold down menu+select as shown on this video) it might work.
Mine didn't work until like the 10th attempt.
So just keep trying, maybe that'll solve your white screen problem like it did on mine. o-o
The name of this video is really misleading and uninformative. If your iPod has a hard drive or battery life problem among many other issues, this video won't help you fix anything at all.
This video should be called "Here is how you reset your iPod Video (5G)"
Thumbs up so people don't waste their time.
