I really hate that generalized statements are made regarding what one supposedly cares about. If our government (mine locally) is not aware of the significant increase of children with severe autism, they may not give a rats ass about expanding services.
Camille, you do a great job promoting diversity and acceptance. Please don't spoil that by slamming individuals who are earnestly trying to make positive changes for individuals with autism.

From the director of autism programs in Pasco County Florida. in 2000/2001 school year, only 76 children with autism were served by our schools. This year, there are over 300 children. Please note that Florida does not yet recognize, serve nor count children diagnosed with PDD, or Asperger's, so this count reflects only children with more severe forms of ASD. This also does not reflect the children in the pre-k programs, but only those in K-12. If you would like, I can email the stats to you.

"Autism rates have tripled in our county since 2001"
Out of which ass did you pull that figure?

I really hate that people who are promoting a nonexistent epidemic don't care what that means for all the undiagnosed and misdiagnosed adults the very existence of whom they are denying. Get a clue. Your child doesn't need to be part of a faux "epidemic" in order for her to get services.
No one. No one. **No one** has ever said that autistic people shouldn't get help.

I hate that individuals like you are trying to reduce the availability of services for my daughter, Jade, by promoting your nonsense.
By stating that there is no epidemic, you are convincing individuals that autism doesn't need their help.
Autism rates have tripled in our county since 2001. What you are doing is hurting Jade's future.
The word "rates" is loaded. You're telling us that the caseload of autistic children has tripled in your county in the last eight years. That's not unusual. How does that compare to population growth in Pasco County during that time? Does Pasco offer more services today than in 2001?
