Why can’t we protect jobs in this country like China does? I would be happy to pay more for everything if it meant that we had a strong middleclass that could afford things like health care, higher education, a car for the teens, and other things that middleclass families used to have.

What is the real cost of cheap labor in China and Mexico? I can't believe that the operation cost of skilled worker in the US versus one elsewhere would be the deciding factor. Cost of material stays same globally. Majority of the work is automated.
