The Gravlee Safety Bevel probe. Improved tip for safer and more efficient results with less complications. Helps to avoid excess energy which can lead to corneal wound burns, corneal edema, iritis, posterior inflamation, cystoid macular edema (CME) and unplanned vitrectomy. Excellent followability for difficult small pupil and Flomax intraoperative floppy iris syndrome (IFIS) cases. One of the greatest debates in ophthalmic surgery has been if phacoemulsification works by cavitary emulsion or "jackhammer effect". Now, we have a third mechanism of action. This radically different but common sense invention is basically a circular knife, enabling a completely new method of cataract surgery without the shockwaves of phacoemulsification. The new methodology of "Vacuum Cutting" avoids creation of particulate cataract fragments, liquid emulsate and free radicals from ultrasonic cavitation for safer and more predictable results. Most cases can be performed with phaco power turned off, obtaining greater control by using the entire travel of the footpedal in I/A (irrigation/aspiration) mode.
