The new methodology of "Vacuum Cutting" avoids creation of particulate cataract fragments, liquid emulsate and free radicals from ultrasonic cavitation for safer and more predictable results. Most cases can be performed with phaco power turned off, obtaining greater control by using the entire travel of the footpedal in I/A (irrigation/aspiration) mode.
