This is polo... long the preferred sport of the elite.

And this is Argentina...for decades, the world's top polo destination.

London trader and polo enthusiast Clive Reid comes back every year.

"If you asking anybody where the best horses, where the best fields are, where the best players are from they would say Argentina straight away."

Many, even in a super-wealthy celebrity set, also choose Argentina because - after a credit crisis in 2001 - it's cheaper.

Now in a global economic crisis, developers in Argentina are still promoting multi-million dollar, multi-polo-field properties as the cost-conscious alternative to traditional hot spots like Palm Beach.

Culu Culu resort president Albert Alletshauzer:

[Albert Alletshauzer, Resort President]:
"You can almost play here for nothing, it is just a thing of beauty. If you want to play in the UK you are going to pay up to $50,000 pounds a horse, probably half that in the U.S."

Even the world's best polo player Adolfo Cambiasso - who says it isn't about profit for him - has a plan to score in Argentina... In his new polo village outside Buenos Aires... ranch homes will come complete with private polo fields.
