@musicman257, I love both CD and vinyl, for different reasons. CD is obviously a lot more convenient and its quality is really quite good; especially so when considering advances in the technology. You can also put it straight into an mp3 whilst still having a hard copy. That being said, vinyl is truly a pleasure to listen to and, for me, its inconveniences are more than worth the eargasms it can provide.

@ampheat Vinyl skips more than a CD does, and has hisses and pops and white noise if not taken care of intensively. I love vinyl and the sound and hope it makes a full comeback. I miss going into a record store and seeing shelves full of records and no cd's. Cassettes and 8-Track Tapes are also welcome to come back.

vinyl rules
Have you people ever heard of SUPER AUDIO CD, DVD-AUDIO, DTS CD, with 5.1 SURROUND sound? Get out of the 70s.

@pornojack Not only have I heard of them, I have all of them, and Vinyl is still better 90% of the time. Plus SACD is the only format you mentioned that has any remotely significant number of new releases. Unfortunately, they are almost entirely classical and jazz. DVD-A is basically dead, and DTS may as well be, plus most 5.1 reproductions are WAY over done. Those effects are fine in a sci-fi movie, but not in music.
