@scottys1 Good point, I have the CZ 550 Varmint Kevlar 308, which has those 19mm dovetails machined into the receiver, which has proved a little bit more difficult finding a 20 moa rail for it. CZ do a weaver rail, but it didn't have many slots, so I've ordered a picatinny rail from US Optics for it. I'm hoping I can still get a 100 yard zero with it, we'll have to see when it arrives! I have the mildot reticle so if I can't zero at 100, I can just create a 100yard zero on one of the mildots

@P1LGY Keep in mind that a scope with 44MOA adjustment, *if* the receiver and base are manufactured perfectly, you will have exactly half of that up and half down. Sometimes the machining tolerance error is in your favor, and sometimes not. So, it is more likely that you will only have 20MOA available in the scope. Choose your base and reticle accordingly.

I was on the fence about getting and F1 until I saw this video!

I have have two shooting buddies that have same twists, one 20" barrel and one 22" barrel and they are both using 175 SMK's with very good results. "Match Kings" enough said :D good luck bro, and post some videos...

@koolmike79 Thanks, I'm pleased to hear that, as the Leupold Long Range scopes with M1/M3 turrets were well out of my price range! That's also the bullet weight range I've been thinking of, mine has a 1:12 barrel, so I'm looking at SMK HPBT 168gr, they seem to have a good reputation for long range shooting, I'll try those first

you should be good to go with that that scope with a 20MOA base and with 44MOA scope gets you 64MOA and with a .308 168-175gr with 2600-2800FPS you will only need 36-45MOA of elevation. You also have 4-8 mildots internally so that will add another 15 MOA or so.

@koolmike79 Possibly, I'm about to get a (mid-range?) scope for my 308, I've decided on a Bushnell Elite 4200 Tactical 6-24x50, it's everything I want, tactical knobs, mildot reticle, good zoom, but, downside, only 44 MOA of adjustment, even though it's a 30mm tube. I want this rifle to shoot up to 1000 yards, so with a 20 MOA base, I may just have to hold high at 100 yards, and then be able to dial it in from 200-1000 yards, we'll have to see.. a lot of experimenting to do!

Maybe, I'm not sure because the owner haven't replied to my questions. But I know of a guy here in Las Vegas and he is using a Premier scope that he shot a 1 mile with the same 6.5CM set up like I have and he only adjusted 20.3 MILS converted to MOA is at 73 MOA compared to mine (falcon menace ML16 4-14x42mm scope) which took me 143 MOA to get to 1 mile. Probably because the way the scope was set up? MOA vs MILS, cheap scope (mine) vs High End ???

@koolmike79 Elevation adjustment is what first came to my mind too, but one of the guys said in the video "I'll aim 3 mils high", so I guess his scope did run out of adjustment
what base are you guys using? and what kind/type of scope? a good friend of mine shot the 155 scenars with a velocity of 2750, using his Rem700 20" barrel with a NF5-25x56mm and he didn't have enough elevation to make it out to 1 mile. Any suggestions?

@koolmike79 The 5.5-22 and F1 models have 100MOA total travel, with means that if you are lucky, you will have 50MOA. We both use 20MOA bases. These guns are not set up to shoot at a mile, the cartridge choices are all wrong to start with....

for those 155's you might beable to get them more accurate using something like alliant 2000mr...i am seeing a solid 3000fps out of my 26" and still no pressure signs, and not at max load either

This is a 22" barrel, the comfortable working load is 2940fps, but I like to take it easy on the brass, so I settled at a little under 2900. Add 4" to the barrel, and you'd get nearly 100fps more....
