  • hi! we will be featuring this video (amongst others) on our blog, sing4harmony[dot]blogspot[dot]com, which showcases the choirs and a cappella groups of Singapore. Do drop by to have a look! :) Thanks for the video!

  • Cheers, thanks! I'm proud of the small hand-held camera which only couldn't cope with the darkness and background noise. Agree with ur other comments, boys didn't have enough character in other two (Olomouc is in Czech, 100kms from Bratislava!), found the Sa.Regian unexciting, too, compared to ACJC's perf's. The school has original 200MB file, quality lot better fullscreen. Ask them for it! What's jared's problem with ur lang??? Cheers again!

  • omg this song is not Javanese but Malay, originating from the Riau islands of Indonesia...

  • Sorry, mate, you should debate it out with 'awsomelychoral', who told me about it. Simple Europeans would not dare to disbelieve anything about it but you should agree with each other if there's a difference of opinion or fact.

  • Well it is my native language and this song is our folk song, so obviously I know what I am talking about...

  • This is very interesting. Other than this, nobody has written that it's Javanese, only that it's Indonesian, which means the country, not the language. Now I can make it more precise. Thanks for the comment.

  • Hahaa...thanks reg :P

  • I sang this song when I was with the ACJC Choir back in 1993 - 1994. We sang this song slow, but not this slow. We were conducted by Miss Rebecca Ng.

We won the Singapore Youth Festival Choir Of The Year 1993!!! (my sister-in-law was in the winning Choir Of The Year 1991!)

  • hey spetekar! haha at least jared said it was a great blog LOL. Anw, ACJC has always been one of the top choirs in Sgp, and i've been a regular concert goer for the past couple of years. i like the tone of the 2nd group, the balance was good, not too sure what u meant by character =S. As for the Salve Regina, it was an ok performance, but as u said not terribly exciting though. Kinda like drinking water compared to a shot of vodka haha

  • Oops! I meant 2003. LOL. My apology. They arranged the sequence of songs really well. i remember disliking their Rondo. But the hit homeruns with the last 3 pieces. El Hambo is repetitive, unexciting piece, but they made it so lively with great tuning. And ending it with soothing piece right after loud piece, in contrast with the other 4 choirs, was a smart move. Some things that not every artist would think about very much.
