By Mike Kepka/The Chronicle - "Occupy Wall Street" began as a specific protest in a specific place. Weeks later, the movement has spread to most major cities in the country and the term "Occupy" has taken on new meaning. No longer confined to camps and marches, Occupy has become a state of mind for Americans who say they are fed up with the economy, with income inequality and corporate influence in politics.

On the day President Obama came to San Francisco for a Fundraiser luncheon at downtown hotel, hundreds of protesters showed for the chance to voice their opinion about needed change. Here are a few of their voices.

  • 99% of BS. You keep electing people that promise you the world with their pretty faces and glorious speeches, but in the end only greed and power is what they are looking for. Well what the hey what do I really know, TALKING points are more important that what is actually being legislated by the Carreer Establishment Politicians on eithe side.

OWS occupy the the poeple in charge for their corrupt rules they pass and favors they grant their friends and the chains of debt placed upon all Americans

  • i think liberals just like to hear themselves talk.......what bullshit

  • Just idiotic steerage whining in libtard Shangri-La.

    SFChronicle/SFGate = Fuctarded Liberal Cocksuckers

  • @uncahay A lot more than you think. O_O

  • @videogamerselite270 What you said pretty much proves you ARE the "99%." You made the point of that the whole movement is based on - the hard workers SHOULD go further. But that isn't how things are working today and that is the whole point of the protests - to draw attention that for the vast majority of Americans, hard work no longer pays dividends.

Whether you agree or not, you ARE the 99% (if you really are a hard worker that isn't super rich)

  • ows loser sheep

  • @videogamerselite270 What could possibly be wrong with "nobody goes hungry"? Hah!

  • But I WILL say this; a lot of these people are struggling when they shouldn't be. They lose 35% of their salary because of all these social programs. For example, people who make $12 a year can lose about $160 a week, which amounts to about $8000 a year. Nobody mentioned that though; all they mention is corporations and whatnot. I say drastically cut these social programs and bring that tax way down.

  • There will ALWAYS be homeless people; that's how the world works. This isn't a Communist society where nobody goes hungry even if they sit on their asses and do absolutely nothing. This is society where the hardest workers go the furthest. The rich will always be the most powerful; money talks and it always will talk. No, I'm not gonna sit around being butthurt and protesting while life passes me by. I gonna make something out of my life. I am NOT the "99%".

  • @xorthfred Nah, just cut by like 80% and save it for the people who really need it lol.
