  • They understood more than you do.Stop trolling.

  • How come you know so much? It's not so much what you think you know, but what you know. You apparently don't have the spirit.

  • Are you addressing JuliendAnce or me?

  • They confiscated the masks?

Why? So they could stuff them into museums where they will sit and be forgotten and rot and lose the purpose which human hands gave them through making?

Those masks should be returned. After so much misery and disrespect the white man has given the Native American peoples, they still do not repent for their mistakes? Even now, so far into a future bragging of equality, kindness, and doing what is "right"?

Human kind really does have a knack for contradictions.

  • During the second world war the US GOvt

  • @indianloves23 .. yup, the Kwakwaka'wakw Nation are on northeastern portion of Vancouver Island as well as the adjacent mainland coast in BC.

  • @Hellbrought ... yes you're right. I agree with you, they should be brought back to their respective people along with the ancestors' bones and every other sacred item. The reason why they're in museums and places like that is so that the general public can HOPEFULLY become educated about ALL the ways, cultures, etc. Unfortunately too many whites out there don't take the ways and cultures seriously so as a result, ignorance sets in and they end up having no respect for the items!

  • thank you so much. I sure hope this all you all live on forever I know you are right for this.

  • was the kwakiutl tribe in vancouve island?

  • @Hellbrought The masks were confiscated to destroy the culture as at the time, the government was pursuing a policy of assimilation. This was to bring natives in line with western european ideals

  • Hello AurorKismet, this is a great video, the documentary quality video and commentary is both interesting and relevant to Canadians. This video would be great for the Canada’s Got Treasures collection, which aims to feature Canadian videos of personal or cultural significance. Help celebrate Canadian diversity by joining our YouTube group (/group/TresorTreasure) and submitting your video. It would be made available on our channel and website.
