Hi Davie,
I love your patterns especially the dry flies & particularly the CDC patterns, in regards to the type of CDC used on the CDC sparse dun are they the oiler puffs you use & if not have you ever used them for the wings?
troutbhoy1 5 months ago
Hi troutbhoy1,
The ones I used were the very fine CDC feathers just above where the puffs would be on the bird so I would be happy to use both especially on smaller flies..I'm glad you liked the patterns I have tyed using the CDC...

thanks for the reply davie and one more thing slightly off topic could i ask how often you renew your varnish or are you tying that many flies that the varnish doesnt get time to thicken lol

Hi MrMarkysparky,
You're welcome..I use an acetone free nail varnish remover to keep my varnish from getting too thick by adding a small drop ever so often but you have to watch what one you buy as it has to be clear and not coloured as it can turn the varnish white..

Top stuff davie do you have any recommendations for CDC as the stuff I've got is very thick in the stem and if I just use the tip there isn't much in the way of plumes.
Cheers

Hi MrMarkysparky,
You may be using domestic duck CDC which has broken fibres and not as good as wild duck CDC like I used in the video a lot better, the last packets I bought came from Cookshill Fly Tying but you should be able to find it in most shops..
