This scene is far more profound that people think it is. The George Harrisons of the world have faded away and idiots like that guy now run the show. They don't need to worry about whether rarefied talent like the Beatles shows up to earn them their billions, they've conditioned the masses to buy whatever the sell, even when it's crap.
