"This year, YPW is working with the Womens Awareness Center in Nepal (WACN) to help a country recovering from war and overcoming the challenges of poverty.

Among the poorest nations in the world, Nepal is located in the picturesque Himalayas and yet has been ravaged by civil war. Ten years later, Nepalese people are hoping to rebuild a country from political ruin and stunted economic growth.

With roughly half the population of Nepal illiterate, 75% of the economy is based on agriculture, leaving its people highly susceptible to natural disasters. A bad croup year could devastate entire communities. Fuel shortages, food prices and inaccessibility of water drive poverty and stunt growth. With the government to torn to help, the Nepalese people look to organizations like WACN to bring change into the reach of their families and community."
