I thought Remy showed a lot of bravery and maturity by going to school natural. I know plenty of grown women who don't have that type of self-confidence to go wear their natural texture.

Kids at her age (10-12ish) will find anything to tease each other about, but I say continue to encourage and support her, and she will be able to rise above. In the meantime, why not let her wear braids/twists to give her hair a break (and some time to grow a bit longer if she wants).

I just say keep encouraging your daughter,pray and reinforce god made us natural and that is a great thing. It maybe complicated at times only because we as natural kinky born ladies have not had a lifetime opportunity to embrase the born blessing.I look at it this way I was going bald permed. Do you think I would get talked about for having hair falling out? So I'm doing what best for me and mostly likely it will still be talked about. Let her pick items out for hair.we R n this 2 gether.

my hair is the same as Remi.... Tell her i had the same problem when I was in school.... I cut my hair all the time.... I'm 23 now and im still trying to get it to grow without breaking off because all the chemicals I used growing up.... I do braids in my hair now.... Tell her to try braids for a while and see how she likes it.... Shes very beautiful.... I love her skin color.... and her hair texture.... Keep your head up Remi.... the kids at school are mad cause they see your beauty... SMILE

U know what I cut my hair off and went natural 4 the first time in high school no one said a word to me...I was more in shock than my peers...but I truly think if I didnt have the texture and curl pattern as I do...I would have caught hell...and thru the yrs...I have done out the box stuff with my clothes hair...etc...and ppl have said Oh U can get away with that. I always wonder...R U sayin that b/c I'm lighter skin??? just to show you our society is really shallow!!!

I know how she's feeling but keep telling her she's preaty and not tothink so hard about dumb people because people will talk about you when your doing good or bad. That's the beauty of life you'll be the hot topic all the time so walk with your head up HIGH and thanking God for the strenght. Yo haters are yo foot stool. Amen sista!!!!!!
