After five days of searching, authorities found the body of man yesterday in an Eagan pond.

The body of Kevin Merrill Tranby Jr., 23, of Waterloo, Iowa, was pulled from Bur Oaks Pond in northeast Eagan at 6:18 a.m. Authorities said Tranby was visiting relatives who lived near the pond when he ventured out alone in a canoe the night of Aug. 26.

Members of the Eagan Police Department and Dakota County Sheriffs Office Dive Team said the search was difficult due to dense weeds in the pond. The Dakota County Medical Examiners Office is assisting in the investigation of the incident.
