David Chase should have used this to close one of The Sopranos...Carmela finding Tony cheating etc, bang then you play this as she realizes that she needs Tony back.

ricrefrat,

I share your admiration of the creators of songs, but all songs only live when sung. Great songs written need great voices to sing them. That she didn't write songs (one profession) doesn't detract from her singing songs (another profession).

At any rate, who would bother to compare Dusty Springfield to The Beatles? That's like comparing Chopin to Times Square.

A great song recorded by a singer with average vocal technique will last longer than an average song recorded by a great singer. Compare the way The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society is remembered to the way Dusty's late 70s albums are remembered.

Great songs recorded by great singers is the ideal. Then you get Dusty's 60s albums, or The Beatles' albums.

i have to laugh..better than the beatles?...the beatles overrated?..someone correct me if i'm wrong...great voice, yes...but she didn't write these great songs...she didn't even write lyrics....that was left to very good song writers...and as far as the beatles being over rated...well, i understand it's your opinion..but you guys sound like sour grapes to me!

Dusty Springfield, with the big hair & even bigger voice, was one of Britain's great exports during the Beatles' era.

Cancer took her in 1999. She had just been notified she was to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
