It wasn't clear Saturday what to make of the first spring game of the Pelini era, which drew a school-record 80,149 fans. The Red beat the White 24-14, but that was only meaningful, really, in determining which team dined on steak and which on hot dogs afterward. What mattered was whether the Nebraska defense could offer the first glimpse of hope since the 2007 season ended with a losing record and no bowl game.
