I am trying to speed up the process by doing multiple steps that will help the cycling process, i am doing so because I got a couple of oscars and didnt cycle the tank, oops. So now my oscar are at a fish store in there own tank waiting until the process is done. And dont complain about the tank being to small for the 2 oscars, I am going to get a 90 or a 100 gallon tank hopelly in 6 months or by 1 year

  • Do u have a new tank now? It was just wrong to put 2 oscars in that in the first place.

Yes, I'm complaining. You can't put two oscars in a small tank and tell people not to complain, doesn't really work like that. A tank that size is only suitable for one baby Oscar.

  • @sean91LFC yes i have a new tank now, that tank is long gone and was suitable for two oscars, a cat fish and a pleco for about 3 months but i did upgrade two a 70 gallow bowfront and now houses the two orignal oscars, jack dempsey, catfish, and two plecos. The water conditions are perfect and the fish get along fine so that theroy of one oscar to 55 gallons is crap. i also have a 65 gallon reef tank and is perfect.

  • my local aquarium was keeping my beautiful bubble mouth, bright red betta while my tank was cycling they sold him to a collector and tried to give me some other red fish when the fish had sold on his tank. now i go to another aquarium now. DON'T GO TO SWALLOW AQUATICS!!!!

  • i never cycle the tank and the fish are fine

  • how long should i cycle my tank i have used gravel in it 80 pounds its a 90 gallon tank i just set it up this afternoon please get back to me

  • @xxadef23xx haha, well they didn't give out vaccines either and everyone with polio was alright too, oh wait....

  • @xxadef23xx how can you call it a fad, the nitrogen cycle its a natural occurance in all ecoystems. ammonia is highly toxic to fish , when you introduce fish to a tank, fish release ammonia in their excriments, ammonia is converted to nitrite by the bacteria nirosomonas when there is enough of them. once enough nitrite is in place the baceria nitrospira converts it to nitrate. at this point the cycle is complete

  • Make sure to have some fish in there. You need an ammonia source to feed the bacteria. If you just throw in the bacteria with no food they will die off.......You dont need gravel. Just squeeze the "dirty" water out of a couple of filters and dump that in. When ever i set up a new tank, i squeeze out the filters from my other tanks about every few days for a few weeks. Works like a charm......

  • o and by the way i have a 55 gallon comun tank so eat that expert vill bullshit

  • cycling is bullshit i let my tank sit for 3 days and everything was fine and i have been a hobbyist for years no or maybe i just got lucky who knows but in my opinion they never cycled back in the early 1900 kuz they did not t have modern science so i strongly believe that cycling is a new age fad a dumb ass one at that
