I still say that this was the greatest video ever shown on MTV. And this was back before PC's, Cell phones, IPods, and MP3's were even invented. All we had then were TV's, VCR's, and MTV, so this was way ahead of it's time! Today's gen has nothing on this video, zip zero natta! And they know it.

Even though I loved it from the first time I heard it the first time I saw this it didn't register, but later on it made me cry. I came of age in the 80s and this was the first protest song I felt. It turned me on to the anti-establishment movement.

This performance was real and was a significant event in the history of our city and for Gen X. I had just moved to Los Angeles the previous month and tried like mad to get down there as soon as I heard about it on the radio. The band had a legal permit to film at this location and spent weeks preparing for the shoot. They performed 8 songs before being shut down. The police got involved only because of the large crowds amassing; not because U2 were doing anything illegal. This was all legit.
