The LIVE OUT LOUD Community Empowerment Survey for Lesbians is sponsored by the North Fork Women for Women Fund, Inc. with a grant from the New York State Office for the Aging, and in partnership with Hunter College's Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging and Longevity and the Southold Township Office for Human Services.

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT SURVEY FOR LESBIANS This survey is part of a project being conducted by the North Fork Women for Women Fund, Inc. with a planning grant from the New York State Office for the Aging. The grant offers an important opportunity for gay women to make known issues that are important to them in creating a community for a lifetime. We are also seeking, through this survey, to identify the capabilities and resources available within the lesbian community that can be mobilized to create a supportive community. If you are a lesbian who lives either part-time or full-time in Riverhead Township, Southold Township or Shelter Island, you are invited to participate in this research project. It should take no more than 15 minutes of your time. Your participation in this research study is voluntary. You may choose not to participate. If you decide to participate in this research survey, you may withdraw at any time. You may also choose not to answer one or more of the questions posed. Your participation in this survey is very valuable to the lesbian community and we are deeply grateful for your willingness to support the empowerment project. Your responses will be confidential and we do not collect identifying information such as your name or email address. The information you provide to us will be kept confidential. To help protect your confidentiality, the survey results will not contain information that will personally identify you. The data collected in this study will be used for assessment and planning purposes only and will be shared with New York State Office for the Aging and the Southold Office of Human Services. While the results of the study will be a matter of public record, the raw data will not be, so that it cannot be mined to create a personal profile of any individual respondent. Your response, or lack thereof, will have no bearing on any services you currently receive or wish to receive in the future.

If you have any questions about the research study, please contact Robin Imandt at robin@nfwfwf.net or by calling (631) 477-8464.

For more information about the survey and how it will be used, please see the press releases and description at http://www.northforklesbians.org/liveoutloud.html .

  • That is great work, but why just lesbians, why not include the entire GBLT community. We all are being discriminated against, and we all need better options to cover us during our golden years.
