What a beautiful video. Be thankful your grandpa talks about it. My dad was Navy. He was at D-Day, Africa, Southern invasion of France, Guam, then Pearl Harbor.

An outstanding book about this battle is James Hornfischer's "The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors." The hit on the Heermann that killed Thomas Evanowski is described on page 271 of the book.
