http://thetithinghoax.com/ - Greetings Everyone! My name is R. Renee and I'm the co-author of the book The Tithing Hoax. Here's a Bible Study I did on the topic of tithing that addresses three common questions about tithing: What is the tithe? Who was commanded to tithe? Why were they commanded to tithe?
It's time that we set the record straight about tithing!

if they are making it such a strict teaching, it's very heart breaking to see a soul lost and never go back to church because of what the preacher said without knowledge that this soul didn't have a job and was living with a relative( saw this happen personally) who is now lost because of money

I keep seeing people say Abraham tithe, but did u see the verses after it where he kept nothing for himself and may I add that Abraham never tithed from his own possesion, it was from spoils of war when he went to get Lot. With that being if u disagree, them you need to do like u think he did, give 10% and give the other 90% to something else and keep nothing for yourself

We can say we are not under a 10% tithe and have God show us what to do with 100% of our money.
(Romans 6:18-20) The law was replaced with our obedience to Christ which could be dealing with anything.
And Jesus is our High Priest. (Hebrews 9:11) "But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building."
We can't go murder and steal, then say we're not under the law.

If you really want to part with your money by putting it in church, go to the New Testament and learn how to give cheerfully and not grudgingly. Don't give just 10%. Give according to need and affordability. That's what works for me. I should help with the lights and other utilities in the church. I can do this without being a tither--just one who gives freely. AMEN!

The beautiful thing about tithing is that it garners money and leads to success. With a large congregation of members who don't read or study the Bible for themselves (mostly women in these churchs that I know), a guy--oops, minister--can state things that are not biblical and many will believe him. He becomes successful and they continue to struggle monetarily.

I'm glad you have principles! Perhaps you would like to elaborate on where is this principle of tithing! I've never seen it! I think there is a clue in your comment, however, in that you think a principle is something that you have to "twist"! I disagree! I think God's Word simply needs to be taken at face value. It's only those who propagate man-made doctrines who need to twist scripture to fit the doctrine! So it is with those who teaching tithing as a biblical principle!!
