  • i use my screw driver removed my coil. but you may need a extension for reach that screw. also if yours is aftermarket coil, you may need wired GND, otherwise it will lighten your engine light. the jetta original coil start working as soon as you installed it.

  • I replaced the ignition coil on a 2001 vw beetle after it died a couple times , new sprkplug, wire set and still not starting, is there anything i am missing.......

  • @mojopoopoo Ignition module I'd assume would be a relay or something controlled by VAGCOM... but, i'd have to see what context your reading it from.. Other wise, depending on what engine you have...some use a 'Coil Pack' (2.0L VR6) and the others use/ have an Ignition coil on the top of each SP wire cap

  • @papak1959 You might need VAG COM to fix the light. Which means you'll have to go to the dealer or, if your lucky a mechanic/ shop might have the multi thousand dollar system and be trained on it. otherwise, unless its causing performance problems, could you live with the light on? VW=pricey and are cruil to the DIYer because everything controlled by the VAGCOM software

  • @stcbenz83 Should add that the car wont be drivable really and if you do for prolonged use, it'll ruin your catalytic Converter.

  • @teebvue No this isn't related to the problem your having. The symptoms for this engine in particular (the 2.0 engine and the VR6) where replacing or fixing the coilpack are a variable include:rough idling and 'surging'. poor or 'surging like" performance with MIL (check engine light) illuminated. Condition worsens when moisture is present (rain, snow, washing engine bay).

  • is there other components on the engine that is also called the ignition coil? because as of right now, im replacing the same part you are showing, because im having misfires. i really hope its not the other coils that connect to the spark plugs. got the car, only if i get it fixed.

Lets just say, the car idles very low after couple mins of driving, it dies here and there, you would have to wait and start again. it is the part you are showing right??? it also lags to accelerate as well.

  • Hi i have jetta 2005 2.0l bbw 67k miles with mil code p0321 (engine speed sensor). I replaced ignition coil pack, engine speed sensor, spark plugs and wires, air filter, new battery. it has good compression.vacum 16,cilynder 1 and 3 sparkplugs were oily and sooty. I cleared code few times and it comes back after20 second when on idle. Please anyone for advice Thanks

  • is it recommended to change the ignition wires aswell?

  • wow, the answer to my moms jetta has been on youtube this entire time!! and here i thought it was a misfire due to bad spark plugs or wires. thanks alot man, ima go buy the parts now.

  • Hi i have a 2000 vw jetta and i'm wondering if the ignition coil and the ignition module is one in the same? ie. are they the same part? or are they two separate parts that fit together. Thank you in advance for your help!
