Beautiful and regal! isn't it true that the word "Creek" was used to name the tribes found by the British in the S.E. of the U.S. because they were too lazy to find out the real name, so, because the tribe lived by the creek, they just called them, the Muscogee, "Creek"....right? And it's a shame so many people only know the word Muscogee from that stupid song by Merle Haggard.

AWESOME!
I'm a white boy with Muscogee/Creek blood running through my veins proudly as it is the same on my mother and grandmother's side of the family.

I am Creek first (also Kiowa, Cheyenne-Arapaho) and I come from a traditional family. I am from Alabama-Quassarte tribal town and belong to the Bear Clan. I grew up at Hickory Ground TT, too. Traditionally, we are not pow-wow people. Our songs and our ceremonies were meant for "Creek" eyes only, that's why stompdances are not for the public. And this was held in conjunction w/ the Creek Festival and sponsored by the Muscogee Creek Nation. It doesn't mean we gave up our ways.

my grandparents left a creek town somewhere on the florida/georgia/alabama area. It's soooo nice to see the creek well and dancing. Been a pow wow junkie for 20 years now but can't get out too much now. So thank you soooo much for posting these. It does my heart good.
Well, many tribes, who are not from the Plains but who were removed to Oklahoma in the 19th century, hold annual powwows because many tribal members have intermarried with other tribes and enjoy the annual opportunity to celebrate and socialize. The traditional music and dance of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation is very active, but very different than the powwow tradition. None are posted here as of yet, but you can look up Creek Stomp Dance for more info, or see the Creek Hymn on this channel.
