I'm a Pop 'n' music begginner and how do you choose your character in enjoy mode?

It can vary from version to version, but pressing both yellow buttons at once while on the mode-selection screen (Where you choose Enjoy, Challenge, Battle, etc) will trigger the character selection screen. :)
