@ebennett365 well, it acshualy depends on what you mean by "stronger" if you are talking about mining speed, then yes they are stronger, but if you mean durability then the wooden pick is the better choice

what i've read on the wiki, the durability of items is in this order (from least to greatest durability)
gold (least dureble)
wood
stone
iron
diamond (most dureble)
so, he is better off using wood (gold only mines FASTER, it does not LAST longer.)
