Seems to be rings to me, I,ve played with the timing but has not changed a great deal. It's hammering a little more due to my timing changes but it sounds clanky what ever position i had the fuel pump in. I got a bit keen with the fast idle :O

  • It turned out to be the injectors... a year later this thing drove to Africa!

  • god dam that sounded bad compared to now. It turns out it was a combination of many things, first the valve guides were worn, the injectors were rubbish and the fuel pump neede recalibrating. I think the clearance on the valves was off too listening to it. The bulk oh the smoke was caused by the injectors and pump. Peter strong in reading cleaned it all up for me and now she runs as smooth as butter.
