Pah! Phooey! Is it Xenophobic to want your own culture to be represented by your own culture? American influence has done untold damage to so many diverse world cultures, and it is fair to attempt to protect against this. Would you think it Xenophobic for Tibetans to attempt to protect their language and customs from the Chinese domination? Of course not. The Daily Mail is a despicable rag, and I have no time for it, but it is not wrong to protect your culture from American domination.

I totally agree. Grew up on great tv like the Wombles. The British accent on Kids TV is becoming extinct. Its all "Oh My Gosh!" and canned laughter-VILE!!! SAVE BRIT KIDS TV.

@sygo7g It is terrible. There's also the whole "animation is for kids" stigmata that has always plagued British TV as well. Aside form Monkey Dust, there's hardly been anything int he past 10 years.
But it is a shame.

Did the website move? :-(

too late for what?

I've pitched several show ideas, all people want to do is remakes too. So it's a case of banging your head against a brick wall sometimes

Completely true,
But the thing is that they also need to target kids older than 3 too, more the 7-10 year olds too, there is zero on TV for them.

woo british tv rocks :D
has any one noticed that a great comedy like the young ones, that was really popular only went on for 2 series, yet a shite american 'comedy' such as friends has been going on for years..? WTF?!

I'm from USA and have seen some British shows here and yes it looks like many American imports have shows over there..I do know Canada has some kind of requirement for TV to have Canadian content to a certain extent. Anyway I'd hope British TV could have some "home grown" programmes that are interesting, perhaps educational, well done, with Brit. content! (From an American whose ancestors came to US from UK in 1600s!)

SAVE BRITISH KIDS TELEVISION.

When I was a kid living in the UK, I was lucky to have enjoyed all those programs that goldenheart5392 mentioned. After we had moved to Toronto, I watched them here until federal government funding got diverted towards more local children's programs. They were good, but still, not the same. Ah well, at least now I can stil see them whenever I want on YouTube!
After the massive success of this video (and some pressure from related groups) the petition got a vast number of signatories and the government rethought their stance, approving a set of financial breaks for British children's TV makers. The site is now closed - well done everyone and thank you!
