  • this scene was the best movie theater experience i've ever had. the sound was monstrous and crushing and it literally felt like the planet was crashing into you. then dead silence and a black screen. everyone sat there for at least 5 full minutes afterwards trying to figure out if the world had actually ended or not.

  • @MgoSail Yes, the great apocalypse of '97. Never forget.

  • .. Fully agree with you.. Need to GO back to qwerty, sorry... to qwerty

  • @dyldog2012 I fille agréé with you

  • Les thèmes de Wagner : un choix excellent, pas "tonitruant" du tout.. Jeter lle trailer où la musique a été changée!! Quelle idée !

  • @killerwaz88 Agreed

  • Wagner destroyed my eardrums while I was sitting at the front row, but that's ok because it's Wagner.

  • If we aren't the only ones were still awesome

  • Melancholia has exposed the Oscars for the sham and charade it really is.

  • For me, the ending was a commentary on religion; the cave being its symbol. All characters, even the panicked Claire, were able to find comfort and security in the cave made by Aunt Steelbroker, even though they all knew that it wouldn't actually protect them from impending death. Maybe that's what Lars is saying about religion- its main purpose is providing a security blanket behind which we can accept the idea of death, and find peace, in our final moments. I'm atheist but found it interesting

  • @MrArcticBuckley Kirsten Dunst was awarded Best Actress at Cannes in 2011. She deserves an Oscar, as does this film - at least for the screenplay - but Melancholia will be snubbed because Hollywood is more concerned with political correctness (in this case, the director's controversial past) than with recognizing masterful works of art for what they are. It's a shame...
