Thanks for the info on electric violins. I play an acoustic, but would love to have an electric. Being able to practice quietly would be a huge advantage. However, I have enough musical instruments as is.

BTW - Is that a Yamaha electric violin?

It's an NS Wav violin from Ned Steinberger. I was going back and forth between this, a Skyinbow, and a Ted Brewer. This one won for price, bigtime, and the tone was simply not that different from the other two. Any of those three beat the Yamaha in pretty much every way...the Yamaha's pegs don't stay in tune without serious modification, the tone is thin, the bridge curvature is all wrong...it costs about $200 of modification to make a Yamaha playable IMO.
