Giants of Justice '09

CLUE (Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice)
Sixth Annual Giants of Justice Luncheon.

CLUE is entering its second decade of working on the front lines as well as behind the scenes on the critical issues that face working families. CLUE brings together religious leaders and faith communities throughout Los Angeles County to support low-wage workers in their struggles for a living wage, health benefits, and a voice in the workplace.

The Giants of Justice who are being honored at CLUE LA's 6th annual fundraising lunch, have helped to raise the level of awareness and opened the doors of justice in their communities and institutions. Their active support has been critical to CLUE's campaigns which include:

LA Security Officers, Hotel Workers in Glendale, Downtown/Wilshire Corridor and LAX/Century Corridor, Community Opposition to proposed Wal-Mart supercenters, Nursing Home Workers and Patients, Grocery Workers, Rights of Immigrant Workers, LAX Living Wage Struggle, Clean and Safe Ports.

The Giants include:

Rabbi Mark Diamond (Executive Vice President, The Board of Rabbis of Southern California)
Rev. Liz Muñoz (Rector, Trinity Episcopal Church)
Ryan Thompson (Former Chair of the Young Religious Leaders Board)

Through awareness, education, engagement and action, CLUE unites people of all faiths to pursue justice by supporting and empowering workers in their struggle to earn a living wage, care for their families and contribute to our communities. We thank our Giants for refusing to stand idly by, and instead taking a stand for Justice and setting an example for us all.
