On 7 May 1915, U-20 torpedoed the pride of the Cunard fleet, R.M.S. Lusitania. She sank in 18 minutes, taking 1,198 with her and leaving only 761 survivors. Relive her final hours and witness one of the greatest maritime disasters in history.

  • Did anyone else notice that when our hero was about to board in New York in 1915, a 50 star US flag was flying?

  • @John1576able Pardon me, but to say "... Lusitanian was hung out to drag America into WW1." is ridicules. The sinking only played a small role in US's entry in the war & had little to do with the US.

To say, "Titanic was sank in a insurance scam", is just wonderfully stupid. You mean to imply someone drove the ship into the iceberg or did someone place the iceberg in it's path?

I'm guessing your American given you total detachment from reality, as I find it's common among Americans

  • Lusitania was a virtual carbon copy of the Titanic disaster. The Officers and Crew seemed totally disconnected from the hazards they were facing. Lusitania was warned about Uboats in the route she was taking, but took no precautions at all. Such disconnected attitudes by both crews gives rise to conspiracy theories; Titanic was sank in a insurance scam, Lusitania was hung out to drag America into WW1. Like nic184180 says below; 'sh*t happens'.

  • @fuzzypony They thought there were orders to sink the Lusitania, but no orders were given to do so. It was a mistake made by U-20 as cargo ships were the main targets for U-boats. Sad the German Empire was put into a postion thanks to the damn French wanting pointless revenge for being sore losers in 1871. Germany simply helps Austria-Hungary bring justice on the Serbian terrorists and sympathizers in the Serbian governemnt who murdered the Archduke and his pregnant wife and get all the blame.

  • Passenger vessels are NEVER legitimate targets. Anyone that thinks so is no better than the Kaiser.

  • @UNSCForwardontodawn Third point, Zeitgeist? Really? That's your source of information, an over-hyped, over the top conspiracy film? Please, go away, read a credited source of information regarding this bleak episode, then I'll take your point seriously.

Finally, Lusitania was the fastest ship on the Atlantic run, and even with her speed reduced, she could easily outrun German U-boats. Also, prior to the sinking, no-one really thought anyone would attack a ship full of civilians.

  • @UNSCForwardontodawn least we stopped their ships without taking life.

Second point, what do you mean there was no business for any ships to be in the war-zone? How did you think all the resources that Britain depended on to keep her war machine going got to her? Okay yes, Lusitania was primarily a passenger ship, but there would still be a demand for a passenger service across the Atlantic in wartime, and at any case, this degrades the argument that she was a legitimate target.

  • @FascistElite Okay, am not entirely sure why I'm choosing to argue with some who believes the Zeitgeist films, but here I go. First, how exactly was it a justified German action? yes, we know that there were a few million rifle rounds in the hold (which I may add, have been found unexploded and therefore didn't cause the explosion), but this was within the rules of warfare at the time. Okay, as a Brit, I may be a bit hypocritical considering we had a blockade of Germany but at...

  • @habbitz

And open cheeks for deeper ramming!

  • @habbitz lol i was wondering when i would see a spartacus comment come up ahaha....love it
