when things went mad i tried to bail with friends and i was held up with a gun aimed at me by the swat team. i asked if i could go to my car and was yelled at. darted down an alley

What I saw -- and I saw hours'-worth -- more or less corresponds with what this officer is saying. The police got a little rude toward the end, but I didn't see anything especially aggressive, even when they did arrest some people. They did indeed play that dispersal order for a LONG time and in several different places. Obviously I can't say with certainty that no one got clubbed, but I really didn't get the impression THAT was on the agenda.

Ok, I just now realized that you are kind of ignorant. A news photographer would never destroy evidence of this sort.

The newsphotogs were all YES on 8 supporters so they destroyed the evidence.

People were definitely clubbed. I was there and knocked over by the wave of people that were trying to get away. We were just sitting and chanting for equal rights. As soon as the news cameras came running to catch it the police backed up into their lines and laughed.

I was there, and there was no clubbing, a ton of people were thrown into the paddy wagon though. The riot police were marching, and while we were waiting at a light to cross on our way to our car, the riot cop asked us what we were doing? Then he said we had 15 minutes to get to our car or we would most likely go to jail. Kind of random, but whatever, we hauled ass to the car and left lol.

I thought the news was reporting our protests? What happened to the clubbings? They were right in front of me, please tell me somebody caught that.

There is going to be a nationwide protest against prop 8 on Nov 15th. Here in L.A., it's at City Hall and starts at 10:30AM.

I was one of those cops... and I'm gay. The city spent millions last night shutting down a busy area of the city so you could walk through the streets. No one got "clubbed". You heard a lawful dispersal order for three hours. Even the organizers were begging you with bullhorns to break it up and leave. The news cameras were in the crowd with you the whole time... if someone got clubbed, they got it. Only NO ONE GOT CLUBBED.

In the area that I was shooting, I didn't see anyone accosted by the police and I was with the crowd for about an hour. I noticed that the riot police team was videotaping (I'm assuming for litigation purposes) the entire protest. If there was a "clubbing" of peaceful protesters or any unnecessary use of force they would have videotaped it, no?
