@VanceJoudrey Rotterdam surrendered and the attack was called off, but called off too late, in that sense it was an accident. My one of my great uncles fought in the Battle of the Scheldt with the first Canadian Army, I'm not pro German in a weird way, just stating the facts.

@VanceJoudrey An accident? Hitler simply said: Surrender or we will destroy Rotterdam. Netherlands didn't surrender, Rotterdam gone. Accident my ***

@Scharfschutzen1 Rotterdam was no mass bombardment of civilian targets? After the bombing Rotterdam was down to ground level, and gues who did that?
-
@Fatherland1 FALSE! Germans started the that tactic dumb shit. in a place called Spain.

Lot of people kill americans after they bail out from their planes.Civilians was angry lot of pilots have lucky when german soldiers capture plane crews before civilians kill them. But all this start hitler after attack at London.

Unfortunately many people died becuase of Nazi Germany's aggression and hatred of all people who didn't fit into their idea of the master race and need for power and dominance. Even their own people. The Jews of Germany, the political foes, the homosexual community, those with physical disabilities and so on. The vicious attack on Poland that started it all off was Germany's decision too.

As was often the case, the aircrew gunners aboard the B-17's had their hands full. Having to pivot a 150 lb 50 cal. gun in -20deg. F that could easily jam or freeze up, having a 3 to 5 second aim on a speck of a target, as well as a limited range of fire and tripping on empty shell casings, defensive fire from a single B-17 was often meager at best. It's little wonder we lost a great number of B-17's early in the air war.

@TsurugiJiri Rotterdam was an accident and Coventry was a retaliatory attack. Hitler specifically ordered that there be no terror bombing until the British did it first. He was holding out for a negotiated settlement with the UK. Sealion was a fake-out so he could invade the SU. He was still totally criminal in his war of aggression, however. incidentally he, thankfully, never approved using Sarin or Tabun - both of which only Germany had.

Same B-17 that's in other post. This is a "German Propaganda Film" showing German pilots how easy it was to shoot the B-17….What they didn’t tell the pilots that the crew had already bailed out!! You can see that none of the gunners on the B-17 shooting back at them. Even on the second pass the guns have not moved on the B-17. There is no way our gunners would let Germans get that close and not fire at them. This was told to me by a member of The C.A.F. over 10 years ago!!!
It is a Historical fact, that Britain bombed a German city before the Germans responded in kind to Britain.
Of course that isn't what is taught in History classes, after all...we wrote WWII history
