  • My gaming rig has this processor in it. 2.80 Ghz but it runs perfect for my needs. I don't know why people over clock it when it has the power to run GTA 4 and fly Tampa scenery for Flight Simulator and call of duty. It not bad at all. But myn does get really hot at idle it gets around 50*C sometimes 67 *C. But it never gets any higher. I think it was build to go up to 80. Not sure.

  • @3624nathan The problem with this cpu is not that it is not powerful enough but more that it does run so hot. The t-case temp max according to Intel is 64. So it does not really take much to get them up to temp and have them start throttling down in performance. So with better cooling a person could probable play Cryis and maybe even BF3 with it.

  • @FUzzyBUnnyBOoties Maybe I just have a good cooking unit to keep it cool. I know heat can really slow down the processor because of too much stress? making it hotter?

  • @aPanzerIV Wow that is a very good question. Do you have it overclocked?. Is the cpu flat did you lap it on a piece of glass to make sure the surface was flat?. Is the cpu cooler making good contact?. If you take the cooler off check the thermal paste and make sure the cooler was making a good contact with it. Did you use a quality thermal paste like AS5?.

  • @Gateway64BIT Thank you for correcting that :-)

  • @TheWoWRevelation That would be a good use for it. As long as you take your time it should be just fine. I have never ruined one lapping it. That cpu should stay nice and cool playing Angry Birds LOL :-)

  • @FUzzyBUnnyBOoties aye i figured is best to do that before trying it out on my real cpu :p heck i could still use the pentium and build my 8 yr old sister a PC :P should be able to play Angry birds!

  • @TheWoWRevelation Nothing wrong with that. It is good to practice on a cheap one before trying it on a new one.

  • gonna buy a 5 pound pentium 4 just to test lapping lol!

  • @davidcrowder1234 Thank you very much :-)
