Oh my god, guys calm down, you can't go on saying Nolan's CatWoman is terrible before the movie has even come out, chill out and... good god, half of these comments are just terribly cold, I absolutely hate the top comments, this CatWoman was good, we don't know how Nolan's will be but just Calm Down, I hate to call you all psychos but just... Over characterisation? Are you kidding me? The very nature of people dressing up in animal suits is absurd - this is the ONLY approach that is accurate with such material. Batman Returns is a direct homage to German Expressionism, the mecca of cinema. Only moronic literalists like the Nolan movies - where nothing is heightened and everything is earnest, drab and self-regarding.

Julie Newmar is probably my favorite Catwoman,but Michelle Pfieffer,Anne Hathaway, Eartha Kitt,Lee Merriwether and Adrienne Barbeau(from Batman the Animated Series)were also really good in the role.

I am not referring to aesthetics, I am talking about the character herself. Hathaway's Catwoman is a world class thief who moves in and out of the wealthy socialite circles, robbing them blind and hating their guts. She has a murky past originated in poverty, is morally ambiguous and quite complicated.

Pfieffer's Catwoman is a psycho secretary reanimated by cats. Not as faithful to the origin as Hathaway's.
