Ten youngsters from across Conwy and Denbighshire now have a better understanding of the dangers of vehicle crime and anti-social driving after being invited to a special day held at Llanfairfechan.
Educating young people about the dangers of becoming involved in vehicle crime and anti-social driving was the purpose of the day, held at the Fire Station yesterday (Wednesday 12th December ).
The Motor Education Scheme day was the first time it was held in the county of Conwy and the preventative programme is aimed at young people aged 11 to 17-years-old.
The day had inputs from various agencies including North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Conwy County Borough Councils' Road Safety. A first aid demonstration was also conducted by the Ambulance Service.
Activities included a simulated crash scene to demonstrate how firefighters go to work to release casualties from road traffic collisions.
Partnerships Superintendent Terry Kellaher said: "This multi-agency initiative will no doubt assist in influencing young people for the future. Hopefully they will have a better understanding of factors that contribute to collisions and what they can do to keep themselves safe."
Manager of the Arson Reduction Team, Sandra Williams said: "The value of this day is in drawing the attention of the young people to the dangers present to them and their friends if they become involved in a collision."
