A brief look on the very promising Frontline: Fuel of War planning for a launch, atleast for consoles, in February 2008. A demo is out atleast for the PlayStation 3 as the PC is limited to a Open BETA at the moment.

I'm running highest settings without xAA-filters at capped 60FPS and recording at 30FPS solid. Runs solid, not much on the screen but the core mechanism of the game reminds me of Quake Wars, but does not share ALL the significant problems. So far I am really looking forward to see how the retail product will be like in the hope for the movement to be fully finished.

This game has destructable environments for those interested. Small buildings, obstacles and such can be destroyed with any of the explosive weapons.

Do note the exceptional responding Rocket Luanching missiles, I simply love the fact they do not go straight forward - Tanks and Air Vehicles has countermeasures to evade Missiles for those interested, so vehicles aren't necessarily death-traps.

Playing on:
MSI K9A2 Platinum 790FX/SB600
AMD Athlon X2 6000+ @ 3155mhz
2GB OCZ ATi Crossfire Cert. RAM at CL4 and ~840mhz
Sapphire HD2900XT 755/867 (minor OC)
Creative SB X-fi Xtreme Gamer
Thermaltake Toughpower 750W
200GB 7200RPM, 8mb-cache IDE-based harddrive (will be replaced anyday)

Resolution is: 1280x1024, pity my new monitor didn't arrive today. Further on I will be playing on a 1680x1050 resolution on a 20" monitor, so in the future my performance might be bumped down a notch.

  • you suck man dont know how to play that game get the friking cars or bunks

  • Uh - what?

  • would this work on just a normal laptop?

  • Depends on your definition of "normal laptop" - but unless it's brand new today I sorta doubt it'd have much of a chance. The game isn't remarkable pretty, but it does tend to eat away some computer muscles to render properly.

  • Then why are you watching videos about FPS's?

  • No, Frontlines is made by the people who made the Desert Combat mod for BF1942
