Bacquier was a great Count in his prime (he recorded it in the early '70s with Klemperer, and was apparently even better in the '60s). Unfortunately he was past his best, vocally, when he did this (similarly the Iago he recorded for Solti was nothing like it might have been earlier). He still knows what to do but his voice won't do it.
When Solti got around to recording the opera a year later, he picked a younger singer for the Count - fortunately it was a good choice, the young Thomas Allen.

Very refined - beautifully controlled.

Based on the quality of this I'm guess this sadly isn't available on dvd

She recorded the Countess with Marriner ( Hendricks was Susanna).
I think she was a fabulous Countess and a fabulous Susanna, but you can't have both in the same rendition :))
Well,Hvorostovski did it, singing both Leporello and Don Giovanni; I didnt like.

I agree with you. To me, too. I really love Lucia Popp's voice and her charning performance.
Je n'ai pas su que vous étiez français!.... Lucia retentit le meilleur que je l'ai jamais entendue. Quelle joie qu'elle ne pousse pas comme la plupart des sopranos!

Lucia was an absolutely fabulous soprano ! Such a timbre, such an ease, such wittiness...
God, how much I love her and cherish this Nozze's version to enjoy her on stage! She sounds fabulous as you said (and recorded Susanna with Solti shortly after).
