Nuclear B-52 Incident. The government say it was a mistake. What do you think? Why would a B-52 bomber armed with nuclear- tipped cruise missles fly to Barksdale Air Force base? There have been orders against such flights for over 40 years from what i've read. Barksdale is a stagging area for B-52s going to the Middle east for combat.
Was this a deliberate action ordered through a chain of command outside the Pentagon? Six members of the US Air Force who were involved in the Minot AFB incident, have died. Two under suspicious circumstances: Police found the body of a missing Air Force captain John Frueh near Badger Peak in northeast Skamania County, Washington. Airman Todd Blue was found in a remote area 'near his rental car'...but authorities say 'no foul play was suspected.' Another suicide?
This week, "Gen T Michael Moseley, the chief of staff, and Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne were both asked to resign by Defence Secretary Robert Gates." It is extremely rare for the Air Force to lose its most senior uniformed and civilian leaders at the same time.
Moseley, who commanded coalition air forces during the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003, became Air Force chief in Sept. 2005. Wynne took office in Nov. 2005; before that he was the Pentagon's top acquisition and technology official under Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld.

  • You have to arm them first. Otherwise, there is no chance of them detonating

  • Dummy gravity bombs and lives are different visually, dummy SRAMs (when they were around) had INERT with blue bands - no INERT and brown bands for live boosters. Same with tactical missiles and bombs - blue bands for the dummies or blue bodies. The ALCM and ACM have bay mounted payloads and only through the arming window or with the door off can the difference be noted - but any and all movement of nuclear arms is strictly monitored - just as you said and see daily. This clip is pure BS.

  • People are so stupid...SAC sat on nuclear deterrent alert for the entire cold war and only stopped in 1992. If you don't think nukes weren't on those bombers when the alerts went off and planes took off, "yes, all around the United States". I understand this is the media that reported this so I just assume they are clueless and their facts are jacked.

  • oohh my God !! So what... beck when she was a kid there where nuclear bombs flying all over the place.. one still somewhere near Savannah...

  • This would never, ever happen in SAC. When they did away with SAC, things started to slide. Gradually, but over time, it adds up. I was in when it went from SAC to ACC the to Space Command. Us old SAC troops were not surprised by this incident, we had spent years screaming that things were fucked up. We were ignored, and told to just shut up and color. And I can tell you, this is not the only incident, this is just the that got public attention.

  • @dave41184 How they mixed up nuclear with conventional weapons? Nuclear weapons are controlled very tightly; when I was a B-52 avionics technician '76 - '80. I remember being called to the ALERT PAD once to fix an B-52 issue; armed guards everywhere within barbed wire fence off area. I was inside the bomber with officers (watching everything) carrying folders with Top Secret written on the outside. The ALERT PAD is where B-52s are loaded with nuclear weapons (ready to fly) during the Cold War.

  • Did you know that there is at less 10 nucks lost in the U.S. from the 60s to the 80smaybe we should take a good hard look at bomber comand?

  • I hope they found those goddamned missiles. If a terrorist captured those it would make 9/11 look like nothing. Though who knows, there are probably people who would welcome something like that.

After all, never let a crisis go to waste and they're willing to create their own when necessary.

In closing I want to remind everybody that no matter how I die, it was murder; should I be arrested or charged with a criminal offense, or should I mysteriously disappear we know who to blame and why

  • @CaptHawkeye It still happens today.

  • @CaptHawkeye Absolutely. Every day, 24/7/365.

  • No threat. There are a plethora of mechanisms that must be initiated in a precise sequence before the nuclear weapon(s) are 'live' and capable of detonation. This is simply the Press exhibiting, once again, it's ignorance.
