  • that looks very similar to the action potential of a neuron except instead of sodium (Na+) causing the depolarization in the brain it is potassium (K+)...but the action potential is the sodium rushing out and the Calcium (Ca++) is what allows the vesicle to release the neurotransmitter (NT)
