Why O why is the news media sooo stupid. I guess its because they dont hire anyone but bubble headed idiots that can read off a prompter and look good. This goes over the Balloon Boy hoax and how it was not that hard to spot or assign blame.

mbd1968, police arn't the brightest stars in the sky and I'll give you an example. In New London, CT, This guy took a test to become a cop over there. He passed all qualifications but they would'nt hire him because he scored to high on the test! They don't want genius police, they want people who will follow orders.

This seemed too stupid even for cops, so I checked, ITS TURE! The guy that was too smart only had an IQ of 125. The average cop IQ is 104 (basically average). So rest assured, the captains, detectives, police chiefs, etc. are just average intelligence. WTF!!!

In every other line of work you hope that the smarter people rise to the top, but when you only accept average people the leaders cant be smarter then the herd.

HAHA I know its true. I just don't get how no ones speaking up about this. I was going to say to check but I wanted mbd to check himself. Nothing against the guy but they really don't want smart police. Not in my state at least, ct. I love when little facts like this come up..that just made my day. oh and Vigilante, nice videos.

Thanks for seeing my point. It's easy for you to make broad statements about police work and or providing safety for your community when you are not responsible for it. I hope you never have to call the police for help, but if you do, I hope they act immediatley without pausing to question if your request is a hoax.

How long doe an initial reaction last? 10-20 minutes? Even a beat cop should know enough to ask some questions.

The sheriff now says he was acting to lure them in so they could pounce on the truth. Maybe the sheriff is not as dim as I first thought, OK?

So you do agree to take it seriously at first. How does that initial reaction make them "not the brightest bulb"?

2012 is too silly to comment on, next it will be people that believe in voodoo or something.

I have a rant on Swine Flu (as it was called then). AND I called it then that the whole thing was overblown and still stand by it. To me, a pandemic is a large percentage of the pop gets infected; right now its still very small and is no worse then the normal yearly flu which is not call a pandemic. :)

Yeah take it seriously, but from looking at the balloon (either from the ground or from the dads own video) the cops sould have ask just two questions; like how much weight can it carry and how heavy the boy is to determine its a hoax. It smelled fishy from the start and a little investigating could have squashed it from the beginning.

Also the sheriff was defending his actions well past when almost all onlookers saw it as a hoax (one poll said 95% thought it was a hoax)
