1976 Motorcycle Race of the Year Mallory Park Sheene Read Agostini Baker

The John Players Race of the Year meeting at Mallory Park on 12th Sept 1976. Recorded on super 8 silent cine film.

Starts with a very quick bit of sidecar action then the stunt show...best place for an Austin 1100 if you ask me! Whatever happened to stunt shows at race meetings, time to bring them back or are we not as gullible as we used to be?

Anyway I digress..the next race is the ShellSport 500 with a great shot of Phil Read on his Yamaha going into Gerards with John Newbold & Pat Hennen close behind, not sure who is in the lead ( probably Barry Sheene, he isn't in the results so maybe he retired ) but the four of them are pretty close heading towards the hairpin. Read again over the start/finish with Hennen chasing. Read is the winner and gets a lap of honour in a Triumph TR7!
Results: 1st Read, 2nd Hennen, 3rd Newbold, 4th Alan North. Fastest lap: Read and Sheene.

Race of the Year next with Steve Baker ( 750 Yamaha ) first into Gerards followed by by Giacomo Agostini also on a Yamaha. Agostini into Gerards on his own in the next shot and then Baker again over the start/finish and into Gerards.
Results: 1st Baker, 2nd Sheene, 3rd Hennen, 4th Ditchburn, 5th Agostini. Fastest lap: Steve Baker

Quite a short but sweet clip and sorry about the sound.
